Chic Fort Lauderdale is a bustling, active beach destination offering a wide array of water and land activities and Sports ranging from boating, windsurfing and diving to rollerblading, skateboarding and volleyball all mixed in with shops, restaurants and bars and pubs along a beautiful 4 km beachfront promenade.
Located in the American Sunshine State of Florida, Fort Lauderdale boasts an average of 245 sunny days, average temperature of 28 °C and a gorgeous stretch of beach on the Atlantic Ocean to enjoy it on! Glamorous hotels, casual shopping, sidewalk cafes, and boat rides through canals, it is hard to find a destination with so much to offer.
Baywatch fans will love the Ocean Rescue stands dotted along the beach, friendly lifeguards vigilantly patrolling and scanning the area, ensuring a safe and enjoyable time is had by all. Flags are posted indicating water conditions; alcohol is not permitted on the beach as a safeguard for all visitors.
A steady parade of cars cruise the adjacent Seabreeze Boulevard, music playing, eyes scanning, elbows out, enjoying the vibe! A mix of exotic and sports cars, monster trucks, jeeps, motorcycles, coupes and “regular” cars all vie for the attention of promenade strollers. It is fun to just sit in a cafe sipping a cold drink and watching the street action!
At around 4:30 in the afternoon we had the pleasure of observing a Holland America Cruise Ship setting sail. It was a surreal site to see the monster ship glide conspicuously out from behind an apartment building heading towards the open water of the Atlantic Ocean.
People casually stroll along the promenade, generally with big smiles on their faces as skateboarders and rollerbladers effortlessly weave their way through the crowd. Volleyball and basketball courts, exercise trails, barbecues, picnic tables and children’s play areas, all for public use make the beach a welcoming experience for all.
My Fort Lauderdale Photo Album probably tells more about Fort Lauderdale than I can possibly write about here, so be sure to take a look at it! It truly is a marvellous place to visit.
