Kaş, a quaint little Turkish town laying on the Turquoise Coast in the province of Antalya, has much to offer considering it is relatively unspoilt. Tourists vacation at this small fishing town for a variety of reasons, including Diving, Yachting, Jazz Concerts, Art Festivals, Mountain Biking, Kayaking, Hiking and good old fashioned relaxation. Oh yes, and of course the food!
Cobbled streets of Kaş are lined with Bars, Restaurants and Shops. Relax during the day at the waterfront with a great book (Emily Bart’s Backpack), or take a spin in a Kayak!
In the evening visit one of the bars serving up cold drinks and cooler Jazz! Sometimes, Jazz concerts are held at the Hellenistic Theatre, a 700 year old Amphitheatre, offering gorgeous sea views and stunning sunsets.
The beautiful hilly terrain is conducive to mountain biking and hiking alike. Part of the 540 km Lycian Way trail, directly in the area you can do one or two day hikes winding along shore and up through the hills.
Affordable Scuba Diving offering fish and wrecks, the Lycian Culture and Arts Festival featuring a symphony orchestra and fantastic sailing conditions give this destination a well rounded vibe. We also saw a small camping area, on the waterfront where people were enjoying the sunshine or just coming back from diving!
Of course, not to be left out is the numerous restaurants and cafes which can be found along the waterfront and in the streets of town. Friendly and serving up some wonderful local dishes for the adventurous, or international recipes, all at fair prices and served with a smile.
With so much to offer in this pleasant little town, it is definitely a destination worth visiting. Whether you are a hiker, biker, diver, sailor / yachter or enjoy good food, jazz, relaxation and maybe some arts and culture, there really is something for everyone at the resort town of Kaş!
